the filter though even though washable you have to replace it within 8 or 12 months or sooner which was 15.00 for another one in 2013. Uses belts for the underneath brush but most of them do and is bagless so you dont have to buy a lot of bags to emtpy the dirt out. We ordered the above blue looking one but they send you one that looks like this another Maxima with a clear canister instead. Eureka has many styles of Maxima and Optima that all look just like this so make sure you find the differences between all the Maximas before ordering one somewhere made by Eureka to be sure you're getting the one you want and the one you order and they arent sending you a lower model for a higher price or not the one you really wanted. Many of the Maximas and other all for substantially different prices really do all look the same. Often the optimas that look like this one too have more floor height adjustments than the maxima like over 10 or something. Their 12 amp moters may be the same motors in all of these models or they may have different kinds of 12 amp motors in some of them that look like these.We tested this one they sent the red one with the clear canister and it all put together well with their bolts and things easy to put together and with their bolts and all fit well. Nothing more annoying than putting something together and bolts don't go in right and well these did very well, and when all put together was a compact and sturdy strong unit.the way the hose is always easy to find and easy to put attachments on is very easy and handy. The machine is very light and easy to move and pack around. For the price we probably couldn't have got much better with its ligthness, easy attachment and 12 amp moter. Would have bought it again. It seems to pick up plenty well will add an addition if notice later thats no the case. Motor sounds very powerful. When you vacuum carpet it leaves the carpet lines on something you just vacuumed which shows its cleaning the rugs pretty well. would have given 5 stars for the price if it didnt have a filter on it. Many of them have filters now and could be you'd have to replace them even more on others.
